כְּשֶׁבָּא לָאָדָם גַּדְלוּת, סִימָן שֶׁיָּבוֹא לוֹ צָרָה, חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב (משלי ט״ז:י״ח): לִפְנֵי שֶׁבֶר גָּאוֹן, וְכֵן כְּשֶׁהוּא שָׁפָל, סִימָן שֶׁיָּבוֹא לְכָבוֹד גָּדוֹל, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב (שם טו): וְלִפְנֵי כָבוֹד עֲנָוָה:
