שבחי הר״ן · חלק ראשון · אות ב׳

גם בהיותו יושב לפני רבו ללמד בימי קטנותו היה רוצה תמיד לקיים (תהלים ט"ז ח) "שויתי ה' לנגדי תמיד", והיה מתייגע לציר נגד עיניו שם הוי"ה ברוך הוא, ומחמת שהיתה מחשבתו טרודה בזה לא היה יודע מה שלומד והיה רבו כועס עליו. ואף על פי כן כל ימי ילדותו היה עושה עניני מעשה נערות הרבה מאד, דהינו: עניני שחוק וקפיצות וטיול (שקורין "פאר שייט") והיה רגיל בזה מאד.
