וְסִימָן שֶׁיֵּדַע אָדָם אִם הוּא בִּבְחִינַת דִּינָא דִּמְסָאֳבָא, וְאִם הוּא בִּבְחִינַת דִּינָא קַדִּישָׁא, סִימָן לַדָּבָר – תְּפִלָּה, כְּשֶׁאֵין בּוֹ בִּטּוּל תְּפִלָּה, כְּמוֹ שֶׁאָמְרוּ חֲכָמֵינוּ זִכְרוֹנָם לִבְרָכָה (ברכות ה): אֵיזֶהוּ יִסּוּרִין שֶׁל אַהֲבָה, כֹּל שֶׁאֵין בּוֹ בִּטּוּל תְּפִלָּה, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: בָּרוּךְ ה' אֲשֶׁר לֹא הֵסִיר תְּפִלָּתִי וְחַסְדּוֹ מֵאִתִּי. וּתְפִלָּה הוּא בְּחִינַת פָּנִים, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב (ישעיהו ל״ח:ב׳): וַיַּסֵּב חִזְקִיָּה פָּנָיו וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל; וְזֶה שֶׁכָּתוּב (תהילים ל׳:ח׳): הִסְתַּרְתָּ פָנֶיךָ הָיִיתִי נִבְהָל.
